The top three reasons we've seen for this, in order, are:
- Some version 2.1 numbers (registered in middle October) were caught in a server switch-over, and will get an invalid message on the upgrade page. These numbers are within the upgrade period, and those people do not need to purchase an upgrade to use version 3.0 unless they are changing the number of users.
- People are mis-typing their serial number.
- People are trying to upgrade LanProjekt’s WinProxy 1.4.
You don't have to worry about case-sensitivity when typing in your existing serial number, but you do have to get those dashes in there. The most common mistakes are confusing ones and ‘ells’, and zeroes and ‘ohs’. Cut and paste if in doubt.
LanProjekt’s WinProxy is a different product, sold by a different company. We do offer competitive upgrades, but not via the on-line shopping pages. You are welcome to call our sales line (1-888-WinProxy) for details.
The top three reasons we've seen for this, in order, are :-
- People are putting the registration number into a 3.0 Beta version instead of the 3.0 release.
- People are inadvertently putting the registration number into version 2.1 instead of 3.0.
- People are mis-typing the number.
The registration number form is not case-sensitive, but you do have to get the dashes right. The most common errors are transposed characters, and mistaking letters for their look-alike numbers. Cut and paste if in doubt.
Far and away the most common reason for this is that people are not adding Gateway information to each client machine’s network settings. It's a bit of a pain if you've got a lot of machines, but its simple to do and it's the one part that's crucial to make the NAT and Transparent Proxy work. If you want to use WinProxy’s new DHCP server to assign network info to your client machines, the gateway information will be included with the rest, no muss, no fuss.
